Answer the following:
- On sports day, 161 children are in the school playground. They are standing in 7 equal rows. How many children are there in each row?
Solution:
Number of children in the school playground = 161
Number of rows = 7
Number of children in each row = 161 /7 = 23. - There are 3 crates. Each crate has 24 bottles in it. How many bottles are there in all?
Solution:
Number of crates = 3
Number of bottles in each crate = 24
Total number of bottles = 24 x 3 = 72 - There are 8 packets of rakhis. Each packet has 6 rakhis in it. How many rakhis are there in all?
Solution:
Number of packets = 8
Number of rakhis in each packet = 6
Total number of rakhis = 8 x 6 = 48. - There are 10 packets of sugar. Saurabh paid 110 rupees for all the packets. What will be the price of each packet?
Solution:
Number of packets of sugar = 10
Amount paid for 10 packets = 110
Price of each packet = 110/10 = 11. - There are 35 students in 7 rows. Each row has the same number of students. What is the number of students in each row?
Solution:
Number of students = 35
Number of rows = 7
Number of students in each row = 35/7 = 5 - Hari, Seema, Chinku and Lakshmi are going to Guwahati. The cost of one rail ticket is 62 rupees. How much rupees needed for 4 persons?
Solution:
The cost of one rail ticket = 62
The cost of 4 rail tickets = 62 x 4 = 248 rupees - One metre of cloth costs Rs 20. Lalbiak bought some cloth and paid Rs 140. How many metres of cloth did he purchase?
Solution:
Cost of one metre of cloth = 20 rupees
Amount paid by Lalbiak = 140 rupees
Length of cloth he purchased = 140/ 20 = 7 metres. - 18 plants are there in Shyama’s garden. What are the ways in which the sunfliower and marigold are planted?
Solution:
18 = 2 x 9, so there are 2 rows and 9 plants in each row.
18 = 3 x 6, so there are 3 rows and 6 plants in each row. - Bheema made a shelf for 30 jars. Can you think of the ways to make a shelf to keep 30 jars?
Solution:
30 = 5 x 6, so there are 5 rows and 6 jars in each row.
30 = 3 x 10, so there are 3 rows and 10 jars in each row.
30 = 2 x 15, so there are 2 rows and 15 jars in each row. - How to share 70 rupees equally among five children?
Solution:
Each child will get 14 rupees because 14 x 5 = 70.
