1. The factors of 18 are 1, 2, 3, 6, 9 and 18.

18 = 1x 18

18 = 2 x 9

18 = 3 x 6

2. i) The first five multiples of 9 are 9, 18, 27, 36, 45.

ii) The first five multiples of 100 are 100, 200, 300, 400, and 500.

HCF = 8

Factors of 36 are 1,2,3,4,6,9,12,18 and 36.

Highest Common Factor = 12

7. The numbers other than 1 whose only factors are 1 and the number itself are called Prime numbers.

The prime numbers between 1 and 20 are 2, 3, 5,7,11, 13, 17, and 19.

8. Numbers having more than two factors are called Composite numbers.

The composite numbers between 1 and 20 are 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, 15, 16, and 18.

9. The term least indicates LCM of these numbers.

So we need to find out the LCM of 4, 7 and 14.

Multiples of 4 are 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32, 36, 40………………….

Multiples of 7 are 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49, 56…………………..

Multiples of 14 are 14, 28, 42, 56…………………

Common multiples are 28, 56……………..

LCM = 28

Therefore the least number of plants = 28

10. The term maximum indicates HCF of these numbers.

So we need to find out the HCF of 15 and 20.

The factors of 15 are 1, 3, 5 and 15.

The factors of 20 are 1, 2, 4, 5, 10 and 20.

Common factors are 1 and 5.

HCF = 5
