8. Find the cost of fencing a rectangular park of length 250 m and breadth 175 m at the rate of Rs 12 per meter.

9. Find the perimeter of a regular pentagon with each side measuring 3 cm.

10. Two sides of a triangle are 12 cm and 14 cm. The perimeter of the triangle is 36 cm. What is its third side?

ANSWERS

1. Given length = 20 cm

Breadth = 5 cm
Area of a rectangle = length x breadth
Area = 20 x 5 = 100 square cm

2. Given length = 120 cm

Breadth = 90 cm
Perimeter of rectangle = 2 x (length + breadth)
Perimeter = 2 x (120 + 90)
= 2 x 210
= 420 cm

3. Perimeter of a square = 320 cm

Length of each side = 320 / 4 = 80 cm
Area of the square = Side x Side = 80 x 80 = 6400 square cm

4. Given area of a rectangle = 80 square cm

Length = 10 cm
Area of a rectangle = Length x Breadth
Breadth = Area / Length
Breadth = 80 / 10 = 8 cm
Perimeter of the rectangle = 2 x (length + breadth)
Perimeter = 2 x (10 + 8) = 2 x 18 = 36 cm

5. Given length = 24 m

Breadth = 20 m
Perimeter of the rectangle = 2 x (length + breadth)
Perimeter = 2 x (24 + 20)
= 2 x 44
= 88 m
Cost of fencing at the rate of Rs 30 per meter = 88 x 30 =Rs 2640

6. Given side of a square = 25 cm

Area of the square = side x side = 25 x 25 = 625 square cm
Perimeter = 4 x side = 4 x 25 = 100 cm

7. Given length = 50 m

Breadth = 25 m
Perimeter = 2 x (length + breadth)
Perimeter = 2x (50 + 25)
= 2 x 75
= 150 m
If he takes 10 rounds, then the total distance covered = 150 x 10 = 1500 m

8. Given length = 250m

Breadth = 175 m
Perimeter = 2 x (length + breadth)
Perimeter = 2 x (250 + 175)
= 2 x 425
= 850 m
Cost of fencing at the rate of Rs 12 = 850 x 12 = Rs 10200

9. Given the length of each side of a pentagon = 3 cm

Five sided figure is known as Pentagon.
Therefore, perimeter = 5 x 3 = 15 m

10. Given perimeter of a triangle = 36 cm

Lengths of two sides are 12 cm and 14 cm.
Length of third side = 36 – (12 + 14)
= 36 – 26
= 10 cm
