1. Find the perimeter of a rectangle whose length and breadth are 250 cm and 2m respectively.

2. Find the cost of fencing a rectangular park of length 150 m and breadth 175 m at the rate of 8 rupees per metre.

3. Find the perimeter of a regular pentagon with each side measuring 5 cm.

4. The perimeter of a regular hexagon is 24 cm. How long is its one side?

5. Find the perimeter of a triangle with sides measuring 10 cm, 12 cm and 14 cm?

6. Find the side of the square whose perimeter is 40 m.

7. Two sides of a triangle are 14 cm and 16 cm. The perimeter of the triangle is 36 cm. What is its third side?

8. Find the areas of the rectangles whose sides are:

a) 2 cm and 4 cm
b) 4 km and 15 km

9. A floor is 6m long and 4m wide. A square carpet of sides 4m is laid on the floor. Find the area of the floor that is not carpeted.

10. The area of a rectangular garden 30 m long is 300 sq m. Find the width of the garden?

ANSWERS:

1. Given length = 250 cm and breadth = 2m = 200 cm
Perimeter of the rectangle = 2 x (l+ b) = 2 x (250 + 200) = 2 x 450 = 900 cm

2. Given l = 150m and b = 175m
Perimeter = 2 x (l+ b) = 2 x(150 + 175) = 2 x 325 = 650 m
Cost of fencing = 650 x 8 = 5200 rupees.

3. Perimeter of a regular pentagon = 5 x side = 5 x 5 = 25 cm

4. Given perimeter of a regular hexagon = 24 cm
A hexagon has 6 sides.
Length of one side = 24/6 = 4 cm

5. Perimeter of a triangle = 10 + 12 + 14 = 36 cm

6. Perimeter of a square = 40 m
Length of one side = 40 / 4 = 10m

7. Two sides are 14 cm and 16 cm.
Given perimeter = 36 cm
Third side = 36 – (14 + 16) = 36 – 30 = 6cm

8. a) Area of a rectangle = l x b = 2 x 4 = 8 sq cm
b) Area = l x b = 4 x 15 = 60 sq km

9. Given l = 6m and b = 4m
Area of the floor = l x b = 6 x 4 = 24 sq m
Area of the carpet = side x side = 4 x 4 = 16 sq m
Area of the floor that is not carpeted = 24 – 16 = 8 sq m

10. Given area = 300 sq m
Length = 30 m
Width = Area / length = 300 / 30 = 10 m
