Class 7 Maths Data Handling | Extra Questions For Practice
CLASS 7 MATHEMATICS | DATA HANDLING – Extra Questions for Practice:
Fill in the blanks:
1. The most common representative value of a group of data is the ———
2. The difference between the highest and the lowest observation is known as ———-
3. The ——— of a set of observations is the observation that occurs most often.
4. ———- refers to the value which lies in the middle of the data when arranged in an increasing or decreasing order.
5. A ——— is a representation of numbers using bars of uniform widths.
Answer the following:
6. The scores (out of 25) of 11 students in a Mathematics test is as follows:
23, 24, 25, 21, 20, 23, 23, 24, 19, 23, 20.
Find the mode and median of this data? Are they same?
7. Find the range of the following set of data.
a) 9, 3, 8,2,6,1
b) 12.5, 3.6, 8.5, 7.5, 1.4
8. Manu recorded the temperature of different cities as follows: 28, 29, 20, 25, 27, 40, 38, 43, 18.
Find the mean of the data.
9. What is the probability of getting a head while tossing a coin?
10. What is the probability of getting a prime number while throwing a die?
ANSWERS:
1. Mean
2. Range
3. Mode
4. Median
5. Bar graph
6. Mode is the observation that occurs most often.
Here Mode = 23 (It repeats 4 times)
To find Median first arrange the observations in increasing order.
19, 20, 20, 21, 23,23,23,23, 24, 24, 25.
Median = 23
7. a) Range = Highest value – Lowest value.
Range = 9 – 1 =8
b) Range = 12.5 – 1.4 = 11.1
8. Mean = Sum of the observations/ Total number of observations
Mean = 28 + 29+20+25+27+40+38+43+18/9 = 29.777.
9. Probability of getting head = Number of favorable outcomes / Total number of outcomes = ½.
10. Prime numbers below 6 are 2, 3 and 5.
So the number of prime numbers is 3.
Probability of getting prime = 3/6 = ½.
