5. Find
a) (-1) x (-5) x (-4) x (-6)
b) (-456) x (-1)

6. Find the product using suitable properties.
a) 34 x (-45) + (-45) x (-24)
b) 23 x (-25) x (-4) x (-10)

7. Replace the blank with an integer to make it a true statement?
a) (-1) x ——– = 45
b) ——— x (-4) = -28

8. Verify (-2) x [(-4) + (-3)] = [(-2) x (-4)] + [(-2) x (-3)]

9. Determine the integer whose product with (-1) is
a) -25
b) 25

10. Evaluate
a) (-25) divided by (-5)
b) (-36) divided by 4

ANSWERS:

1. a) (-3) and (-2). (Answers may vary)
b) 5 and 20, since 5 – 20 = -15.

2. (-4) and (-10), since (-4) – (-10) = (-4) + (+10) =+6

3. (-20) and (10), since (-20) + (10) = (-10).

4. Since 12 is an even number its product must be positive.

5. a) 120
b) 456

6. a) (-45) [34 + (-24)] = (-45) x 10 = -450
b) [(-25) x (-4)][23 x (-10)] = 100 x (-230) = -23000.

7. a) (-1) x (-45) = 45
b) 7 x (-4) = -28

8. LHS = (-2) x [(-4) + (-3)] = (-2) x (-7) = 14
RHS = [(-2) x (-4)] + [(-2) x (-3)]
= 8 + 6 = 14.
Therefore LHS = RHS, so verified.

9. a) (-1) x 25 = -25
b) (-1) x (-25) = 25

10. a) 5
b) -9
