Be My Multiple, I’ll be your factor

1. Find all the factors of 18.

2. Write first five multiples of 8.

3. Find out the Least Common Multiple of 4 and 6.

4. Write the common factors and HCF of the following number: 8 and 12

5. Write the prime numbers between 1 and 20.

6. Write the composite numbers between 1 and 20.

7. Three bulbs glow at regular intervals of 6, 8 and 12 seconds. When will they glow together?

8. Write the common factors of 36 and 24. Which is the smallest among them?

9. Find first three common multiples of 6 and 8.

10. Find the HCF of 12, 16 and 18.

Answers:

1. Factor pairs are 1x 18, 2×9, and 3×6.

Therefore, factors of 18 are 1, 2, 3, 6, 9 and 18.

2. First five multiples of 8 are 8, 16, 24, 32, and 40.

3. To find the LCM of 4 and 6, we need the multiples of 4 and 6.

Multiples of 4 are 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32, 36…………
Multiples of 6 are 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42, 48………………..
Common Multiples are 12, 24, 36 ……………..
LCM = 12

4. Factor pairs of 8 are 1 x 8, 2×4

Factors of 8 are 1, 2, 4 and 8.
Factor pairs of 12 are 1 x 12, 2×6, and 3×4.
Factors of 12 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 12.
Common Factors are 1, 2 and 4.
HCF = 4

5. Prime numbers between 1 and 20 are 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17 and 19.

6. Composite numbers between 1 and 20 are 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, 15, 16 and 18.

7. Here we need to find out the LCM of 6, 8 and 12.

Multiples of 6 are 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42, 48, 54, 60, 66, 72……………….
Multiples of 8 are 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48, 56, 64, 72…………………
Multiples of 12 are 12, 24, 36, 48, 60, 72………………….
Common Multiples are 24, 48, 72……………………….
LCM =24

8. Factor pairs of 36 are 1 x 36, 2 x18, 3 x 12, 4 x 9, and 6×6.

Factors of 36 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, 12, 18 and 36.
Factor pairs of 24 are 1 x 24, 2 x12, 3 x 8, and 4x 6.
Factors of 24 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12 and 24.
Common Factors are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 12
Smallest among them is 1.

9. Multiples of 6 are 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42, 48, 54, 60, 66, 72………………

Multiples of 8 are 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48, 56, 64, 72…………………..
First three common multiples are 24, 48, and 72.

10. Factor pairs of 12 are 1x 12, 2×6, and 3 x 4.

Factor pairs of 16 are 1 x16, 2x 8, and 4 x 4.
Factor pairs of 18 are 1x 18, 2×9, and 3 x 6.
Factors of 12 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 12.
Factors of 16 are 1, 2, 4, 8 and 16.
Factors of 18 are 1, 2, 3, 6, 9 and 18.
Common Factors are 1 and 2.
HCF = 2
