Answer the following:
- Write the following as decimals:
3 hundreds 2 tens 9 ones 4 tenths 7 hundredths
Solution:
3 x 100 + 2 x 10 + 9 x 1 + 4 x 1/10 + 7 x 1/100
= 300 + 20 + 9 + 0.4 + 0.07
= 329.47 - Write as decimals: Four tens and nine tenths
Solution: 4 x 10 + 9 x 1/10 = 40 + 0.9 = 40.9 - Which is greater 0.9 or 0.09?
Solution: 0.9 > 0.09 - Express the following as rupees:
a) 5 paise
b) 750 paise
Solution:
a) 5 paise = 5/100 rupees = 0.05 rupees
b) 750 paise = 750/100 rupees = 7.50 rupees - Express each of the following in terms of litres using decimals:
a) 525 ml
b) 3litre 750 ml
Solution:
a) We know that 1 litre = 1000 ml
525 ml = 525/1000 litre= 0.525 litre
b) 3 litre + 750/1000 litre = 3 + 0.750 = 3.750 litre - Add 4.3 and 2.15
Solution: 4.3 + 2.15 = 6.45 - Subtract 0.87 from 1.5
Solution: 1.5 – 0.87 = 063 - Compare 0.2 and 0.25
Solution: 0.25 > 0.2 - Find the sum of 0.15, 0.8 and 0.02
Solution: 0.15 + 0.8 + 0.02 = 0.97 - Write the fraction as decimals: 4/20
Solution: 4/20 x 5/5 = 20/100 = 0.20 - Arrange the following numbers in descending order:

Solution: We know that 1cm = 10mm
