B. 9: 12
C. 6: 9 - Present age of father is 36 years and his son is 6 years. Find the ratio of their ages in simplest form?
A. 1: 6
B. 6: 1
C. 3: 6 - Ramu sells 3 kg of grapes for 270 rupees and Raju sells 5 kg of grapes for 450 rupees. Whose grapes are more expensive?
A. Ramu
B. Raju
C. Both are same
ANSWERS:
- 8: 15
- 5: 14
- 160
- 24 RUPEES
- 3: 2
- 1260
- 50
- 9: 12
- 6: 1
- Both are equal
Explanation:
- A: C = A/C = A/B x B/C = 2/3 x 4/5 = 8/15 = 8: 15
- A: D = A/B x B/C x C/D = ¾ x 5/7 x 2/3 = 5/ 14 = 5: 14
- Given ratio is 2: 3: 4
Sum of the parts = 2 + 3 + 4 = 9
So the 3 numbers are 360 x 2/9 = 40 x 2 = 80
360 x 3/9 = 40 x 3 = 120
360 x 4/9 = 40 x 4 = 160
So the greatest number is 160 - Given ratio is 2: 3
Sum of the parts = 2 + 3 = 5
Niya’s share = 60 x 2/5 = 120/5 = 24 rupees
Miya’s Share = 60 x 3/5 = 180/5 = 36 rupees
Therefore Niya will get 24 rupees - Given b = 2a/3
3b = 2a
3/2 = a/b
So a: b = 3: 2 - Given ratio is 2:3
Total number of students = 2100
Number of girls = 2100 x 3/5 = 1260 - Let the number of girls be x
Given 1: 2 = 25: x
½ = 25/x
x = 50 - Multiply both 3 and 4 by 3, so you will get an equivalent ratio as 9: 12
- Ratio of the age of father and his son is 36: 6 = 6: 1
- Cost of 3 kg of grapes = 270
Cost of 1 kg grapes = 270/3 = 90 rupees
Cost of 5 kg of grapes = 450
Cost of 1 kg grapes = 450/5 = 90 rupees
Therefore, both are same.
