Answer the following:

  1. The perimeter of a square is 20cm. Find the length of each side?
    Solution:
    Length of each side = 20/4 = 5 cm
  2. The length and breadth of a rectangle are 12 cm and 8 cm. Find the area?
    Solution:
    Given length = 12 cm
    Breadth = 8 cm
    Area = length x breadth = 12 x 8 = 96 square cm
  3. Find the perimeter of a square whose side is 20cm?
    Solution:
    Perimeter = 4 x 20 = 80 cm
  4. The perimeter of a square carom board is 320cm. Find the length of each side?
    Solution:
    Length of each side = 320/4 = 80cm
  5. The length and breadth of a rectangle are 10 cm and 6 cm respectively. Find the perimeter?
    Solution:
    Perimeter = 2(l + b) = 2(10 + 6) = 2 x 16 = 32cm
  6. The sides of a triangle are 8cm, 7cm and 4 cm respectively. Find the perimeter?
    Solution:
    Perimeter = 8 + 7 + 4 = 19cm
  7. The perimeter of a regular hexagon is 36 cm. Find the length of each side?
    Solution:
    Number of sides of a hexagon = 6
    Length of each side = 36/6 = 6 cm
  8. The perimeter of a triangle is 20 cm. The lengths of two sides are 8cm and 6cm. Find the length of the third side?
    Solution:
    Length of third side = 20 – (8 + 6) = 20 – 14 = 6cm
  9. Find the perimeter of an equilateral triangle of side 5 cm?
    Solution:
    Perimeter = 3 x side = 3 x 5 = 15 cm
  10. Find the perimeter of a regular pentagon of side 7cm?
    Solution:
    Perimeter = 5 x side = 5 x 7 = 35 cm
  11. The area of a rectangular garden is 500 square m and width is 25m. Find the length of the garden?
    Solution:
    Area = 500 square m
    Width = 25m
    Length = 500/25 = 20m
  12. The perimeter of a rectangle is 100cm and its length is 35 cm, find the breadth and area?
    Solution:
    Perimeter = 100cm
    Length = 35 cm
    2 length = 2 x 35 = 70cm
    2 breadth = 100 – 70 = 30cm
    Breadth = 30/2 = 15 cm
    Area = l x b = 35 x 15 = 525 square cm
  13. Find the cost of fencing a square field of length 150m at the rate of Rs 50 per metre.
    Solution:
    Perimeter = 4 x side = 4 x 150 = 600m
    Cost of fencing = 600 x 50 = Rs 30000
  14. The perimeter of a regular pentagon is 200cm. Find the length of each side?
    Solution:
    Length of each side = 200/5 = 40 cm
  15. The perimeter of an isosceles triangle is 25 cm and length of one side is 8cm. Find the length of third side?
    Solution:
    Perimeter = 25 cm
    Length of one side = 8cm
    Since it is isosceles triangle, two sides are equal.
    So the length of third side = 25 – (8 + 8) = 25 – 16 = 9 cm
