- Nine added to thrice a number gives 54. Find the number
ANSWERS:
- 2p = 18
P = 18/2 = 9 - 2x + 4 = 12
- x – 2 = 3x – 12
x – 3x = -12 + 2 = -10
-2x = -10
x = -10/-2 = 5 - a) y + 2 = -2
y = -2 – 2 = -4
b) –p/4 = 3
-p = 4 x 3 = 12
p = -12 - Let Anu’s age be y
Anu’s father’s age is 10 + 5y = 45
5y = 45 – 10 = 35
y = 35/5 = 7 - a) 3y = 21
b) ¼ p = 16
c) 4m – 12 = 20 - 5 + 3y = 26
3y = 26 – 5 = 21
y = 21/3 = 7 - 4(x – 2) + 3 = 7
4(x – 2) = 7 – 3 = 4
x – 2 = 1
x = 1 + 2 = 3 - 3p + 5 = 26
3p = 26 – 5 = 21
p = 21/3 = 7 - 6y – 6 = 54
6y = 54 + 6 = 60
y = 60/6 = 10 - Let the number be y
3y + 10 = 40
3y = 40 – 10 = 30
y = 30/3 = 10 - 7x + 3 = 38
7x = 38 -3 = 35
x = 35/7 = 5 - Let number of girls be y.
Given 2 + 3y = 50
3y = 50 – 2 = 48
y = 48/3 = 16 - 3x – 4 = 17
3x = 17 + 4 = 21
x = 21/3 = 7 - Let the number be p.
9 + 3p = 54
3p = 54 – 9 = 45
p = 45/3 = 15
